Keep Smiling Water Well Project in DRC Successfully Completed.
Evenproducts Ltd are thrilled to share the latest update from Keep Smiling, an NGO we proudly support. In a heart warming email received recently, the NGO reported significant progress in their mission to provide clean and accessible water to communities in need.
The exciting news shared was the completion of the first Keep Smiling water well in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The dedicated team successfully drilled the well, conducted all necessary development work, and completed the installation process.
The Project:
The initial phase faced challenges, with the team unable to erect the water storage tank immediately, leading to water distribution directly from the well. Despite setbacks, the NGO overcame obstacles, including a pump destruction caused by a lightning strike. Quick repairs were made, and as a precautionary measure, a lightning protection system was installed to prevent future damage.
The water well now boasts a fully functional water tank and distribution tap. The addition of a water meter and water filter ensures the community receives clean and safe water. Although the NGO acknowledges a low water pressure issue when the tank level is low, they are already planning to install a surface water pump. This will enhance pressure and extend water distribution to more areas.
Keep Smiling expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and encouraged Evenproducts Ltd to spread the word about their success. They emphasized their unique approach and noted that, despite doing things differently from other NGOs, they have achieved remarkable success. The partner community has already benefited from the water source, enabling them to improve and expand their water system.
